The Queen – Winter 1884

A woman is facing to the side and slightly turned away. She wears a pale blue dress or skirt with a small train, visible only at the hem. She wears a coat or dress of dark blue figured brocade trimmed with wide ornate fringe. The brocade has a regular gold triangular motif. The sleeves are trimmed with a wide flared blue velvet edge and the fringe edges that band.

The trim is wide and made of heavy fibers with regular bobbles in dark blue and gold. The fringe also edges the hem. The high collar is of blue velvet, and the bodice has a deep v of gold edged with blue velvet at the back. The center back of the skirt has a band of gold. She wears a dark blue velvet hat in a truncated cone shape. The brim is edged with gold, and turns up into two points at the front. The hat ties under her chin with blue ribbons, and has blue plumes decorating the top. She carries a small dark blue muff and wears gold gloves.
