Queen Mary of England – 1685

Queen Mary of England has her hair dressed in long curls and wears a green velvet bodice with a silver and gold ornate brocade skirt. The skirt has a column of diamond shapes down the front and a double band of small green diamonds between gold lines at the hem. She wears a long, green velvet cape, lined with ermine, with a gold stripe along the edge. The upper sleeves are made up of stripes of green velvet alternating with ermine, and have decorative looped strands of pearls, caught with gold brooches at the shoulders, and also edging the hem. The lower sleeves are edged with gathered lace. White fabric edges the wide low-cut neck and the front of the bodice. Jewels adorn the neck and a row of six gold brooches go down the front. She wears a short pearl necklace and pearl earrings. She holds the edge of her cape in her left hand, while her right hand rests on the jeweled orb on the table next to her. Next to the orb her crown rests on a red and gold cushion.
