Vintage travel poster, titled “Jamaica, the Gem of the Tropics”. The artwork is a color lithograph and was produced by the publishing house of Thos. Cook & Son, New York. The artist is often listed as “American School” or simply attributed to the initials CKS.
The poster was an advertisement, encouraging travel to the island with the text: “Beautiful, healthy, accessible. Tickets by all steamship lines here”. It features a woman in traditional attire balancing a basket of fruit on her head, set against a backdrop of the Jamaican coastline and mountains.
