Fashionable Hats – Autumn 1896

Four women in very ornate hats are depicted from waist up. The top row depicts two additional hats as well as one women. The hat on the top left is a flat brimmed yellow straw banded in black and trimmed with large white and black striped bows, a black plumes, and a pink bow under the brim. The woman at the center wears a yellow and white stiped dress with a fluffy white collar. Her hat is a flat brimmed multicolor pastel straw with white poufs and a standing yellow plume.

The blue hat on the top right is banded and edged with maroon, and has two blue feathers and a folded blue and maroon striped cockade at the front. The woman on the left of the bottom row is wearing a high collared blue and yellow dress with white frills at the neck, and a crossover white collar of pleats and white lace ruffles. Her hat is black trimmed with large black plumes through a large ornate jeweled buckle.

The woman at the center of the bottom row is wearing a wide white frilled collar with a baby blue bow at the neck. Her tan hat has dark blue plumes, light blue sheer ruffles, and pink flowers under the brim. The woman at the bottom right is wearing a pale blue dress with a square green collar with lace trim. Her blouse is pink, she wears a green bow at the neck, and her black hat is trimmed with large pink with roses, and black edged white ribbon.
