Evening Dress – Winter 1819

Woman wears a elaborate white evening dress with short puffed sleeves and a high waist. The bodice, neck, and sleeves are trimmed with intricate swirls of white ruffles. A wide, white border runs along the bottom of the skirt. The woman wears white stockings, flat, white shoes, and white, elbow-length gloves. Her cylindrical white hat has a border of white flowers along the brim and three white plumes at the crown.

The hat is tied with a white cord ending in tassels under the woman’s chin. The woman leans her right arm on a small, high pedestal table which is ornately decorated in gold. She holds a white lace handkerchief in her right hand and is seated on an ornately carved and decorated gold bench that is topped with a dark blue cushion trimmed in gold and tassels.
