Vintage advertising poster for American Overseas Airlines (AOA), designed by the design duo Lewitt-Him circa 1946. This is a piece of commercial art promoting the airline’s transatlantic routes between the United States and Europe.
The illustration uses the metaphor of a world map tied together like a bow to symbolize the reduction in travel time between continents. American Overseas Airlines operated transatlantic services from 1945 until 1950, when it merged with Pan American World Airways.
