This exquisite hand-colored fashion plate from May 1899 shows a classic American spring gown from the publication Le Bon Ton et le Moniteur de la Mode United. Published by S.T. Taylor Company in New York, the engraving depicts an elegant woman modeling a tailored dress with a defined waistline. Her ensemble nicely illustrates the transitional style leading into the early Edwardian era.
Antique Lace Embellishments and Historic Accessory Design
The historical print highlights a beautiful gold dress decorated with long bands of white lace featuring scalloped edges. The figure carries a matching lace-trimmed parasol in lavender and cream, paired with white gloves and an elaborate purple feather hat. A secondary sketch in the upper right corner provides a detailed view of the garment’s back structure.
