Walking Dress – Summer 1821

A woman poses in a walking dress from 1821. She wears a white dress with large white ribbon decorations at the bottom and a slightly ruffled hem. She wears a blue Spencer jacket with Juliet sleeves with ruffles on the cuffs and the poufs of the sleeve. A narrow ruffle forms a V-shape from the center of the bottom edge of her coat and runs over her shoulders.

The jacket collar is edged with a similar ruffle. A white double ruff is visible at her neck. She wears a large brimmed, white bonnet with a blue and white woven design on the brim. A wide blue ribbon ties the bonnet under her chin. One blue shoe can be seen from beneath her dress. She holds a telescope in her hands and stands in front of a large boulder near the seashore.
