The artwork is a classic example of art from the Cultural Revolution era, showcasing central themes of the Chinese Communist Party’s ideology at that time:
Abundance and Prosperity: The poster depicts a massive wool harvest, with overflowing baskets and people surrounded by white piles reminiscent of clouds. This “romantic imagination of the harvest” was used to project an image of agricultural success and self-sufficiency.

Ethnic Unity and Collectivism: It shows herders, likely from Inner Mongolia or similar grassland regions, working happily together. The aim was to demonstrate harmony between ethnic minorities and the state under socialism.

Modernization in the Countryside: The presence of a truck (visible on the left) and mechanical shearing equipment (in the background) highlights the introduction of technology and modernity into traditionally nomadic rural areas.

The Role of Women: Many of the central figures are young and energetic women, reflecting the era’s emphasis on women’s active participation in the workforce and national production.
