Riding Clothes – 1830

An authentic 1830 hand-colored fashion engraving titled “Modes de Paris” from the famous French periodical Petit Courrier des Dames. This historical print showcases early 19th-century equestrian attire (habits d’amazone). The illustration features two women and a young boy. The lady on the left wears a full-length plum-colored riding dress with large gigot sleeves, velvet lapels, a tailored vest, a high collar with a cravat, and a black top hat with a flowing veil. Next to her, a young boy is styled in a green hat, a blue jacket, and white trousers. In the background, the back view of the second woman reveals a similar powder blue riding habit. Complete with detailed French publication credits at the bottom, this rare plate is an exceptional resource for antique print collectors and costume historians.
