The central figure, dressed in ornate imperial robes, symbolizes abundance and ethical prosperity. He holds objects such as a gold ingot (yuanbao) and a ruyi scepter, representing power and wish fulfillment.
The two “chubby” children at the bottom are classic symbols of good luck, fertility, and family continuity. They hold stacks of banknotes (Chinese Renminbi), reinforcing the theme of immediate material wealth. The predominant use of red and gold is intentional, as these colors represent luck, happiness, and prestige in Chinese culture.
The characters on the sides and top are greetings inviting wealth into the home. A carp (fish) is also present, which in Chinese sounds like the word for “excess” or “abundance,” indicating that wealth will be more than sufficient for the year.
