A woman in an opera costume from 1827. The woman wears a black opera dress under a long black coat. The fabric at the top of her bodice is gathered and a black ribbon defines her waistline. A small white ruffle peeks out from the top edge of her bodice. The bottom third of her dress is gathered material with three off-set black bows, and two parallel columns of small rectangular ribbon shapes.
She wears long black gloves with a gold bracelet around her right wrist. In her left hand she holds gold opera glasses. She wears a gold necklace, gold drop earrings, and a gold band around her head. She wears a flat black hat with a large brim. Two gold tassels hang from the right side of the brim, the longer tassel reaching her shoulder. Her coat is draped over her shoulders and is floor length. She looks towards the right.
