Morning Dress – 1836

A woman stands in morning dress. She wears a pink bonnet with a wide brim, trimmed in white. The crown of the bonnet is decorated with pink ribbon bows, white lace and pink flowers. The ruffled edge of her mobcap in visible inside of the bonnet. Three pink flowers line the space inside of the brim. A pink ribbon is tied in a bow beneath her chin. She wears a double stranded, black cord choker with a cross on the bottom strand. Her dress is charcoal grey with a floral and dot design. The neckline is shaped like a “V”. Ruffles line the shoulders and upper arms of the dress. She wears black shoes and white gloves. The woman looks at a book and holds it open on a table. The table has carved legs and a dark green table cloth with black stripes around the hem.
