This etching presents the front of some of the college buildings at Harvard University at the time Jackson was honored in 1833. The Wall name appears at the bottom of the drawing with the date 1937; Wall signed below the etching. The inspiration image comes from the collection of the Harvard College Library.
Andrew Jackson acquired his license to practice law in 1787 after spending three years in Salisbury, North Carolina studying law with two prominent lawyers. He began his practice in North Carolina’s western district of Washington County.; A 1788 appointment to a position as district attorney in the Mero District brought him to Nashville. He received from Harvard University an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws in 1833.
