French Fashions – Spring 1857

Two women are standing in a parlor. The woman on the left wears her hair in a low bun. Her dress is gray. The jacket has a fancy white collar and white cuffs, accented with pink ribbon running through the collar and in a number of small bows on the cuffs. The hem of her jacket is edged with fringe. On her skirt, the bodice, and sleeves of the jacket is a crenelated pattern, with small accent spots. She wears yellow gloves. The woman on the right wears a brown bonnet with white ribbon and a brown plume. Her dress is purple with stripes on the skirt in a v-shaped pattern. Her dress has long bell sleeves.
