Evening Dress – Summer 1822

A woman wears a light brown evening dress with a high waist and short, puffed sleeves. The low, square neck and sleeves are trimmed with a band of white with a blue squiggle. Two brown darts that look like frog closures come from each side of the bodice. The skirt is trimmed with rows of blue flowers and poufs and is finished with a row of blue loops. She wears blue shoes and stockings and white, elbow-length gloves. She has a spray of pink flowers and a golden comb or diadem in her hair. The woman wears a double strand of pearls with a pearl pendant around her neck. She holds a scroll of music in her left hand and rests her right hand on a pedestal table with a lyre shaped base.
