Council for Mutual Economic Assistance
The СЭВ, or Comecon, was an economic organisation under leadership of the Soviet Union comprised of the countries of the Eastern Bloc along with a number of communist states elsewhere in the world. Poster depicts a book with the words, “internationalism, cooperation, mutual aid, integration, equality, brotherhood, unity”, in Russian.
Members’ flags appear at the bottom of the poster (from left to right): People’s Republic of Bulgaria, People’s Republic of Hungary, German Democratic Republic (East Germany), Republic of Cuba, Mongolian People’s Republic, People’s Republic of Poland, Socialist Republic of Romania, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
