A woman wears a pink dress in the Circassienne style (named for a region in Caucasia). It has a deep scooped neck trimmed in white ruffles, and has white ruffles at the shoulders, wrists, and cuffs. Darker pink tassels hang from the neck, and vertical yellow ribbons decorate the bodice. A wide, yellow and white striped ruffle follows the rear sweep of the skirt. From the knees to the hem, the skirt is finished with a ruffled white tier, edged in yellow. The woman’s shoes are yellow with pink bows. Her hair or wig is arranged in an elaborate style trimmed with ropes of pearls, a pink bow and tassels, a white plume, and a white veil. She holds a closed fan in her right hand and a piece of paper in her left.
