Arrow on the bow, sword out of the shield

The poster he submitted is titled “Bow on the string, sword out of the sheath.” The image features central elements highlighting the sport and patriotism of the time: a female archer occupies the top of the image, displaying the Chinese national emblem on her uniform. Below her, several fencers are depicted in action, symbolizing agility and readiness.

This type of art was common in China to promote physical fitness and national spirit through sport. Vibrant colors and a dynamic composition typical of the Cultural Revolution era were used, although it was published in the late 1970s.
