Bridal Fashions – Spring 1859

Three women are depicted in a room. The woman on the far left wears a white ruffled bonnet with pink flowers. Her dress is blue with black ribbon edging and bows, with a wide square neck. Her blouse has a jewel neck and long, full gathered sleeves. She has a black bow on her skirt, on the upper tier, which is also edged with black. The woman in the middle wears a wedding dress, in off white. Her hair is up and a lace veil is attached at the back with white flowers and ends just above the ground.

The bodice has buttons down the center front, and her skirt has three tiers on her skirt. Each tier has a satin layer with a lace layer above, both edged in scallops The woman on the right sits in a chair. She wears a white bonnet with yellow flowers and matching plumes. Her dress is deep purple, and is covered by a black lace mantelet. All three women wear gloves.
